Control

Have you ever been truly in control? I doubt it. From our very first breath, we have had no real control. Did you choose your parents? Were you able to make her say yes? If you are in control, then why do you have that diagnosis?

We have a choice, but not control. This month is about realizing that we do not control, but we do have the ability to choose. Our wise choices are those made with understanding that someone or something else is in control and then are made with a selfless heart.

Nelson Mandela is credited with saying, “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” When we try to control, it often comes from a place of fear, not from the ability to make free, uncoerced decisions.

This week, examine your choices. Are you making them out of a place of freedom or out of a place of fear?

Until next time, love God with everything you have, thank Him for all the good and the bad, and talk with Him often.
